Why destination matters
Transit goods remain under customs supervision. Present them as required at the destination office or appropriate authorised location. A signed delivery note does not by itself establish that the movement has ended. Dispatch should give the driver instructions before transport begins.
Ending versus discharge
Ending the movement and discharging the procedure are related but distinct. Destination information helps departure customs assess whether the operation was completed correctly. The procedure holder should monitor it instead of closing the job after unloading. Keep confirmations and any discrepancy information.
When confirmation is missing
Contact the transit handler with the MRN, date, presentation location and driver documents. Do not open another operation to conceal an unresolved previous movement. Clarification may require the relevant offices. Deadlines and conditions are movement-specific, so this guide does not give one universal number of days.
Before you commission the work
- Keep the MRN and route instructions.
- Present goods at the correct location.
- Obtain destination documentation.
- Monitor subsequent discharge status.
What to watch out for
Unloading at an ordinary parking area or warehouse without the required procedure can breach transit conditions. Clarify the ending process first.
